(Blog 18) The Last Grab for Votes

The last wave of students before the ballads opened, began flooding the hallways. With less time than had been allowed before school, reptiles were rushing to their lockers and quickly shuffling backpacks to their sides to unload and pack new books before their next class. The sound of multiple unzipping backpacks, popping metal locks, and squeaky locker doors happening disharmoniously created a level of sound that muffled voices.
Kylee, however, was determined to make sure every last sticker found a home before voting officially began. With a burst of energy, she grabbed a stack and darted from behind the booth, weaving through the crowded hallway.
"Vote for Lena! Homecoming Queen material right here! Team Dragon all the way!" She raised her voice each time she said it as she placed stickers into the claws of every passing student, whether they wanted one or not. She was too focused to catch how many reptiles she whacked with her flinching tail, but it was enough to create a grumbling among the crowd.
She bumped into a group of younger students near their lockers, practically sandwiching one of them between her body and the locker doors. “Vote for Lena!” she said as she held a sticker up in front of his face. The sophomore dragon blinked at her, awkwardly taking the sticker. "Um… thanks?" he muttered before shoving it into his satchel without a second glance.
Back at the booth, Wix called out, "Kylee! Maybe focus on the seniors? They’re the only ones who can actually vote."
Lena nodded, "Yeah, let’s not waste our materials on the underclassmen. They’ll just stick them on their notebooks and forget."
Kylee sighed dramatically, acting as though her efforts weren’t being appreciated. She reluctantly returned to the booth. "Fine, fine. But I stand by my work. Maximum exposure is key to victory!"
Wix shook her head with a laugh. "Or, you know, just making sure the right dragons get them."
